How Much Time Do You Have For A Pedicure?
You can get a little clever with your home pedicure depending on how much time you have. If you have more than 30 minutes to spare then you can do so much. But what if you have just 5 minutes or 2 minutes and you have to make your feet look good in those sandals? You can still pull off good-looking and well-pedicured feet. Here are some things that you can do with your home pedicure, depending on how much time you have.
More Than 30 Minutes To Spare
If you have more than 30 minutes to spare, start by soaking your feet in warm water, to soften your skin. If your feet are feeling a little tired consider adding some organic or therapeutic salts in the water, to soothe them.
Then begin to exfoliate the dead, old skin cells. Ensure that your feet are dry and that you use a foot file that is dry too. Nail technicians advise that you use a file that is not too rough and not too soft; this will exfoliate your skin effectively.
After getting rid of the dead skin, go ahead and trim your nails using a clipper with a straight edge. Make sure that you do not cut your toenails too close to the skin. Smoothen out the edges using an even emery file board.
Do not forget to moisturize the top, bottom, cuticle and heels of your feet. Massage the cream deep into your skin. Now jump into the best part that is applying nail polish. Begin with a base polish, then two coats of colored polish and then finish off with a top coat. Wait for about 15 minutes for the nail polish to dry, before you can slip into your sandals. Consider applying drying drops to hasten the drying process.
Just 5 Minutes
If you have just five minutes before rushing out, you can shorten the pedicure process into three steps. First, put your feet in warm water and using skin scrub, begin to exfoliate your feet. A scrub that is oil based is preferable as it will exfoliate and moisturize at the same time.
Dry your feet and file out the nails quickly to give them some shape. File them in a straight line, to save yourself the time. Use nail polish remover to eliminate any scrub residue and then choose a topcoat that dries quickly. Apply this and, you are ready to slip into your sandals.
Running Late, Just 2 Minutes
You just have two minutes and your toenails need some rehashing. Buff up the nail edges and the top surface to remove stains. To make the nail surface look shiny, use first the rough side of the buffing board and then the smoother side.
In your rush, do not forget to moisturize your feet so that they do not look dry and flaky. Use a foot cream that is rich in moisture and message it thoroughly into the skin. Focus on areas that are prone to dryness such as the cuticles and the heels.
