Bridal Beauty: DIY Haircare Recipes With Natural Ingredients
One of the most important decisions you will have to make on your wedding day is: how are you going to where your hair? Ok, so it isn’t the MOST important decision you will make, but it’s a big one none the less!
Whether you are trying to grow your hair out (like me), or are getting extensions to create that beautiful “do”, you still want your hair to be as healthy as it can be. Healthy hair = gorgeous hair!
Luckily for us, this earth has given us so many natural ingredients that can help keep our scalp and hair looking, and feeling soft, silky and smooth!
Most of these natural elements can be combined to make so many different hair care options like masks, scrubs, heat protectants and more. And also, they are pretty cheap (which is a major plus!)
Here is a graphic image that lists 8 of the best natural ingredients to get gorgeous hair!
Another great oil, and natural ingredient, that isn’t on this list is coconut oil! Coconut oil is just a great beauty item to have in general (in fact, on nights when I am feeling super lazy, I ditch my usually skincare routine and just rub some coconut oil on my face)! Coconut oil contains ingredients that promote the overall health of your hair! It makes hair strong and shiny while also stimulating hair growth!
A couple of these things can be used by itself, or they can be mixed together to solve a multitude of your hair care problems.
Cleanse Your Hair
Products needed:
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Water
There are so many reasons why ACV is good for you hair, but I will give you the short version. The enzymes and acidity of the ACV help to balance the Ph of your hair, and leaves your scalp clean and healthy!
All you need to do it mix 10 parts water with 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar. After shampooing regularly, massage the rinse in to your scalp, then leave it on for about 2-5 minutes. After the minutes are up, rinse it out and then condition as usual!
Repair Your Hair
Products needed:
- Honey
Honey is an amazing product that not only tastes good, but has health benefits as well! When it comes to your hair, honey is a natural hair softener, and will lock in moisture to your hair! Leaving it super soft! This is a great fix for damaged or brittle hair.
For this honey mask, it is really simple! All you need is honey! You want to do this mask after you have washed your hair normally. Then, when the hair is still damp, massage about a half cup of honey in to your hair. Leave it for about 20 minutes, and then rinse it with warm water.
Sometimes, honey can be so thick, it is difficult to work with. In this case, just mix in a little coconut oil to smooth out the honey, and add even more benefits to the mask!
Moisturize Your Hair
Products needed:
- Coconut Oil
Yet another product that is already great on its own! No need to mix this with anything. However, do keep in mind that you want to use the coconut oil in it’s liquid form. So if yours is solid, put a couple tablespoons in to a microwave safe dish and warm it up!
Then, all you do is cover your scalp with the mask, and comb it through! You can leave it in for only 20 minutes if you are in a rush, however I like to leave it in overnight! Then when your mixture has been in long enough, shampoo it out! After this mask, there is no need to shampoo your hair!
Strengthen And Grow
Products needed:
- Olive Oil
- egg
Both of these ingredients are POWERHOUSES when it comes to hair care! And when used together they are perfect for getting strong hair that will grow like Rapunzel’s!
Olive oil is another emollient that helps get hair strong and shiny! While egg yolks contain an element called lecithin, as well as protein, which are perfect for strengthening and moisturizing hair!
You want to start out with wet hair. Then combine 1 egg yolk, with two tablespoons of olive oil. Apply this mixture to your hair, avoiding the scalp, and focus it mainly on the ends of your hair! Let it sit for about 30 minutes, and then rinse with warm water and shampoo to remove all yolk and oil from your hair.
